The Invisible Monster is always lurking in the dark. It may be dormant at times, but it’s always there… My non-typical birth has paved the way for my entire non-typical life. I was born in a log cabin with no electricity or running water, then later moved to a teepee. Life happened, and I ended up in a Dayton ghetto. Life happened some more, which landed me in a small town in West Virginia. But everywhere I go, The Invisible Monster is always there. I am learning to slay my Monsters and have become quite fierce in the process. Try…
1. We live in a world of screens, what do you suggest to the audience to read more books? Some fantastic statistics show how essential reading is for maintaining your brain cells. A child who isn’t routinely involved in reading activities before age eight experiences a permanent loss of neurons in a phenomenon called “neuronal sloughing.” This neuronal loss also occurs in adults, but gradually over decades. Basically, use it or lose it. Translating those page squiggles into mental images stimulates your neurons like nothing else. Pick up a book! 2. What is your favorite quote or excerpt in the…
Hello Rick, welcome to Brand Education! What is your favorite word and why? My favorite word lately is Charcuterie. I recently learned what a charcuterie tray is and have decided to misuse the word as often as possible. Latest book “Inside Out” by Demi Moore. I find it so interesting to learn how these larger than life characters became who they are. Some stories are enlightening and uplifting. Others…

He shares that over the years, as the acorn grew into a mighty oak tree, how each generation enjoyed the shade of the tree, climbing it, reading under it, and gathering together as a family around it. It’s a…

Too much screen time isn’t good for the eyes. I love books and have an enormous library. I have an online bookstore debsbookparadise.com for the overflow. In fact, if I removed all the books from my 100 year-old New England home, I think it would rise at least a foot. Reading is transporting. While I love zoning out with screens, a good book is an experience that engages all the senses and ignites the imagination. I have written some law-related books that were reviewed as self-help, which I believe is because of the conversational tone and my desire to help…
