Diann Floyd Boehm is The Author of The Week

Diann Floyd Boehm has always enjoyed the art of storytelling, and has now taken imagination of storytelling to print so she can share her stories with more children around the world.

Hello, Diann! Welcome to BrandEducation, where we celebrate remarkable achievements and highlight outstanding works. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to you for receiving the prestigious Mom’s Choice Award for your latest books Charlie and the Tire Swing and A Time to Fly!

Tell us about you.

I am a mom, wife, and grandma. I am a former classroom teacher, teacher trainer in technology, and now a children’s author and young historical fiction.

Where are you from, and where do you live?

I grew up in Texas with five brothers and loving parents.

Can you tell us a little bit about your journey?

My mom always said life is chapters; I continue to share that with my family. So, I will share with you my author’s chapter so far. Like many authors, having a publisher say yes to one of your stories takes time. But once I received my first yes, the world opened to me. I now have three publishers, OC Publishing, Texas Sister Press, and my latest publisher Norns Triad Publications. I feel blessed that so many publishing companies want to publish my stories.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Giving, spiritual, trusting

What Inspires You?

My family, music, and friends.

Share something our audience would not know about you.

I enjoy white water rafting, zip lining, and Ifly.

How did you get into writing or doing this work?

I have always been a storyteller. When I was working in the garden, it dawned on me that I should turn my stories into children’s books. After I finished working in the garden, I came inside the house, and before I knew it, I was putting my stories on the computer.

Can you tell us what inspired your books and what is the story behind them?

Charlie and the Tire Swing and How It All Began!

Charlie was inspired by my son, who always enjoyed his tire swing.

I wanted to write an intergenerational book, Patients for an Acorn to Grow and the Love of Nature. The giant oak tree is a real tree in my husband’s childhood home.

A Time to Fly!

It is based on a bluebird laying eggs in my flower pot. My family and I watched the mom take care of her eggs, and when they hatched, we watched both parents feed their little birds. We watched one bird that did not want to fly, and I thought what a great story that would be. No matter our age, we all have moments of Can I do it? I wanted this story to inspire all my readers to know they can do it.

Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share?

I have two projects going on.

Boomer  the Curious Bunny, is a new children’s book coming this July. The cover reveal, and link will be available in the next few months.

I am also working on the edits to the follow-up to Rise A Girl’s Struggle for More! The name is TBD. I am grateful that enough readers have wanted to know more about Ruby, the main character. It is a young historical fiction book based on my Grandma Ruby.

What are your goals and aspirations?

Like most authors, I want people to know about my children’s books. The themes in my books inspire children and adults. My aspiration is for my books to become well known because of the various themes to be kind, to love themselves, to believe in themselves.
