At the 76th Berlinale International Film Festival, Dua Lipa created a defining fashion moment.
The global pop icon arrived in a fully sheer custom Chanel creation, reaffirming her position as one of the most commanding red-carpet presences of her generation. Known for her ability to merge contemporary sensuality with archival-level glamour, Lipa delivered a look that felt both daring and impeccably controlled.
The ankle-length black gown featured an off-the-shoulder neckline that sculpted the décolletage with architectural precision. Its sheer fabric, enhanced by intricate crocheted detailing, balanced texture and transparency. The form-fitting silhouette hugged the frame before flowing into a feathered hemline that added movement and couture drama.

Layered over high-rise black underwear, the look balanced boldness with purpose. There was no excess or overstatement, only measured confidence.
Lipa completed the ensemble with pointed-toe So Kate pumps from Christian Louboutin, whose sleek design reinforced the elongated silhouette. Jewellery was deliberate and restrained, letting statement pieces stand out without competing.
A striking Serpenti necklace from Bulgari, symbolising power and reinvention, was elegantly wrapped around her neck. It was paired with minimal silver earrings and a single ring. The styling emphasised craftsmanship.

Her hair was styled in a polished, slick bun, which sharpened the overall look and kept the gown as the focal point.
Makeup followed a philosophy of controlled impact. A luminous, lightweight base preserved her natural complexion. Soft contouring defined the cheekbones, complemented by rosy pink blush and subtle highlighter for dimension.
For the eyes, muted pink shadow and mascara-coated lashes framed the gaze without overpowering it. A dark peach matte lip added warmth, harmonising with the outfit’s monochrome palette.
Chanel’s legacy is rooted in refined rebellion, subverting convention through elegance rather than spectacle. Lipa’s Berlinale appearance embodied this ethos. The look was modern, sensual, and quietly authoritative, an aesthetic aligned with her evolving personal brand.
At a festival known for cinematic excellence, Dua Lipa delivered a couture performance. The sheer Chanel gown did more than photograph well; it dominated the frame, the carpet, and the conversation.
