Through her own healing journey back to wholeness, she became known as a powerful facilitator for healing, engaging teacher, speaker and safe place for those to turn to who feel broken, alone, and in dire need of love, transformation, acceptance and discovering their true I AM.
Hello author Wendy, welcome to the RV Book Fair! What is the last book that you read?
Like many of you, I read multiple books at once. The last one that I finished was The Third Grave by Lisa Jackson. I’m a big fan of hers. The other two books that are nearly finished are, “All For Love” by Matt Kahn and “The Power of Intention” by Dr, Wayne W, Dyer.
What inspired you to start writing?
In the sixth grade, we had to write a short story and read it in front of the class. Mine was called, “Aunt Sophie” and based on my grandpa. Every night at the dinner table, he’d call out to Aunt Sophie which was his code phrase for needing to go to the bathroom. My classmates and teacher laughed and loved my story. I was hooked on writing after that.
As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
I wanted to be a teacher or a nurse when I grew up. Even though I’m not either of those, my business as a personal empowerment leader involves teaching classes based on personal transformation, coaching and helping people heal their emotional suffering on the heart and soul level.
State a random fact about yourself that would surprise readers.
Only a few people know that I love writing PG-13/R-rated vignettes. One day I plan to publish a book that has 365 titillating tales of seduction, romance and passion. They are steamy without being graphic. Don’t tell anyone! It might ruin my reputation. Lol.
What was your hardest scene to write?
There were several scenes that were hard to write. They involved sexual and physical abuse. I had to do a lot of deep healing before even bringing up the subjects.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Baking is one of my guilty pleasures. I do get really upset though when something doesn’t turn out just right. Baking is such a science and sometimes things just go a bit wonky. My grandma taught me how to bake starting around the age of three or four. Those times are some of my earliest and happiest memories. I feel my grandma watching over me when I’m baking, especially when my grandangels are in the kitchen with me.
What do you think makes a good story?
A good story needs an emotional connection, a villian, suspense and a happy ending. Not to mention, a protagonist that you like and care about.
Do you hear from your readers much? What do they say?
It’s always an honor to hear from readers. The general feedback is that they couldn’t put my book down. Even though it’s non-fiction, it’s written more like a novel , taking the reader on the journey with me as if in current time. The other positive is that they experienced some level of healing just from reading my story of transformation. It gives them hope. That’s priceless to me and validation that taking the risk of being extremely vulnerable was worth it.
How did you come up with the title of your book?
The original title of my book was “Healing in a Chaotic World” but my book publishing coach convinced me that changing it to “Healing Your Soul In A Chaotic World” was better since that’s what my book is about. We actually butted heads about this. I was stubborn and didn’t trust him at first. My Grandma actually came to me in spirit and told me to trust him. It was after that that I let go of “my story” and my book became “your story.” Everything stopped being about me and instead, about the reader.
If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?
If I was a superhero, I’d use my hands and mind to shape and shift energy in visible form. And be able to open a pickle jar without asking for help.
What does literary success look like to you?
To me, literary success is more than the number of books sold. It’s giving the reader a positive experience. It’s making someone’s day better and putting a smile on their lips. Or opening up their heart to possibilities of transformation. Or the magic of transporting them to a different time and space if they need to escape reality for a short while.
Who are your cheerleaders?
I’m blessed to have a multitude of cheerleaders. My family, friends and clients all support me personally as well as my mission to serve others. I could not have published my book without a strong support group.
