Kia Launches Syros EV in India with 526 km Range and 15-Year Battery Warranty

Kia India has officially launched the Kia Syros EV, expanding its electric vehicle portfolio with its second locally manufactured EV after the Carens Clavis EV. The new electric SUV is priced from ₹13.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level 42kWh variant, while the top-spec X-Line Extended Range model is priced at ₹19.99 lakh. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin on 30 July.

Visually, the Syros EV retains the familiar design of its petrol-powered counterpart while introducing several EV-specific styling elements. These include Kia’s closed Digital Tiger Face grille, redesigned bumpers, Ice Cube LED headlamps, Star Map lighting signature, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and flush door handles. Buyers can choose from nine exterior colours, including an exclusive Matte Graphite finish available on the X-Line variant.

Inside, the cabin combines technology with comfort. The highlight is Kia’s 30-inch Trinity Display, integrating the digital instrument cluster, infotainment system, and climate controls into one seamless interface. The SUV also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman Kardon eight-speaker audio system, ventilated front and rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a powered driver’s seat, wireless phone charging, and a practical 16-litre front trunk (frunk).

The Syros EV is available with two battery options. The standard 42kWh battery delivers a claimed driving range of 443 kilometres, while the larger 51.4kWh Extended Range battery offers up to 526 kilometres on a single charge. According to Kia, this makes the Syros EV the first model in its segment to deliver more than 500 kilometres of certified range. The Extended Range version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds, while a 100kW DC fast charger can recharge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes.

Safety remains a major focus, with the Syros EV equipped with six airbags, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) featuring 16 autonomous functions, a 360-degree camera, blind-view monitor, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, electronic parking brake with auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring system, and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.

Kia has also introduced an extensive ownership package aimed at making EV ownership more attractive. The company is offering a 15-year unlimited-kilometre warranty on the high-voltage battery for the first owner, an assured buyback programme promising up to 80% resale value after three years, Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing options, and access to the K-Charge network, which includes more than 20,300 charging points across India.
