British luxury shoemaker Jimmy Choo has announced Princess Gauravi Kumari as their new brand ambassador for India. The young royal joins the ranks of actress Ananya Panday, adding a touch of regal elegance to the brand’s image in one of its key markets.
Princess Gauravi Kumari has swiftly become a notable figure in the fashion circuit, collaborating with top designers and launching multiple projects over the past year. Her appointment as the ambassador for a global brand like Jimmy Choo comes as a natural progression in her burgeoning fashion career. “I first discovered my love for fashion while studying in New York, experiencing a mélange of cultures, styles, art, and striking fashion. That was the first spark that kindled my interest in this world,” she reflects.
Gauravi’s initial foray into the fashion industry began with establishing her own business, which paved the way for numerous projects, magazine covers, and high-profile fashion events. One of her significant ventures includes overseeing the PDKF Store, a label that supports her mother’s enterprise, the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation (PDKF). The brand emphasizes sustainability, particularly by reusing deadstock fabrics, establishing itself as a unique player in India’s fashion landscape. “All the partnerships happened quite organically, but the starting point was the launch of The PDKF Store,” Gauravi explains.
This latest collaboration with Jimmy Choo is not Gauravi Kumari’s first brush with international brands. She has been a familiar face at Dior shows, including their Mumbai event, and partnered with Ralph Lauren for a silent auction and gala dinner at the City Palace in Jaipur, supporting the PDKF. Additionally, in December 2023, she joined forces with designer Anita Dongre to present the ‘Rewild 23’ fashion show, raising funds for nature and elephant conservation, with proceeds benefiting the Nature Conservation Foundation.
Her prominence in fashion extends to prestigious events such as the Bulgari Gala dinner at the Ambani residence in Mumbai, attended by notable personalities like Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Shilpa Shetty. Moreover, her association with the esteemed jewellery house Cartier has further solidified her status, inviting the brand to their global events and featuring her on magazine covers.
Gauravi’s new role with Jimmy Choo signifies a strategic shift in how luxury brands identify influential figures in the fashion domain. “I feel incredibly honoured to join hands with such an iconic fashion house as Jimmy Choo. They have been a force to reckon with in the fashion world and are known for their unwavering commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and design,” says Gauravi.
With her blend of royal heritage and modern entrepreneurial spirit, Princess Gauravi Kumari is set to bring a unique flair to Jimmy Choo, enhancing the brand’s appeal and reach in India and beyond.
