Google has partnered with fashion brand Stella McCartney, Google will build a cloud-based tool that improves data collection and analysis for the fashion industry, enabling key end-users to implement more sustainable management practices across the supply chain.
Globally, the fashion industry only accounts for around 20% of wastewater and 10% of carbon emissions. Industry understand the need to better manage the impact of raw material use and how supply chains contribute to air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, land use, water scarcity and cradle-to-grave product models.
The first phases of the project will initially focus on cotton, and viscose.
