Luxury fashion house Givenchy, under the umbrella of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, has made a significant move by naming renowned Chinese actress Li Bingbing as its brand ambassador for the Chinese market. This appointment strengthens Givenchy’s presence and connection with Chinese consumers.
Li Bingbing joins Givenchy as the third China spokesperson, following the footsteps of previous ambassadors Esther Yu, Fan Chengcheng, and Ouyang Nana. However, Li stands out as the first ambassador chosen under the creative direction of Matthew Williams, who departed from the company in December last year.
Li Bingbing expressed her excitement about the collaboration, emphasising Givenchy’s enduring charm and rich history. As a prominent figure in the global entertainment industry, Li brings her talent and passion for environmental causes to her role as ambassador. Over the years, she has been actively involved in initiatives such as WWF Earth Hour and the United Nations Environment Programme, showcasing her commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
With a vast following of over 42 million fans on Weibo, Li Bingbing’s influence extends far beyond entertainment. Her presence on social media platforms gives Givenchy a valuable opportunity to engage with Chinese consumers and effectively promote its brand values.
Li Bingbing’s collaboration with Givenchy is not her first venture into the world of high fashion. Previously, she worked with Gucci as both a China ambassador and a global ambassador during Frida Giannini’s tenure as creative director.
Givenchy’s decision to appoint Li Bingbing as its brand ambassador reflects its strategic focus on the Chinese market and its commitment to fostering meaningful connections with consumers. As Li embarks on this new role, her partnership with Givenchy is poised to redefine luxury fashion in China and inspire a new generation of fashion enthusiasts.
