Interview with Suzanne Mann
Hello and welcome to the RV! On today’s episode we are heading to Sydney, Australia to talk to Suzanne Mann , AKA The Challenge Girl. Suzanne is a mother of 3, writer, changing maker, co-host of Voices Two Dream Podcast and co-author of Relatable Voices Anthology.
• Suzanne, tell me about yourself.
Ha! Where do I start? Mother of three, I studied microbiology at university (totally weird I know) and then ended up going into marketing, product management and change maker. I then took 12 years “off” to have children. I am very blessed not to have to work so when I realised I wanted more in life I was able to study Compassionate Integrity. I then became involved in writing articles for this as well as doing important fund raising for me. After reading Imagine I then went into book reviewing, publicity and more recently interior design and authoring!!
. Where are you from and where do you live?
From Australia but grew up overseas… Hong Kong, Philippines & Atlanta Georgia then back to Sydney since I was 13. I love to travel and have been luck enough to be able to my whole life.
• What do you like to do in your spare time?
What spare time???
Life is pretty busy… I’m the Challenge Girl in spare time… I challenge myself and others to go beyond what they thing they can do. I run step challenges, mental and spiritual challenges. I try to mediate & started a men’s only meditation so my husband would have to go! I love outdoor exercise but my favourite is to be near the ocean. Also have two dogs that keep me busy.
• Can you tell us a little bit about your journey?
I have learnt that the older I get the more fearless I have become. I love that I feel more free and open to be myself. I feel like I have really started to find my “tribe”. I am passionate about making a difference in the world. Thus why we started eg the podcast because I feel like by telling others stories and sharing wisdom … through conversations, we learn the most about how to be more accepting and loving in the world.
. Are you working on anything that you would like to share?
I am one of the co-hosts of Relatable Voices anthology and it will be available in July 2022.
Can you tell us a little bit about it?
The idea behind this anthology will be a collection of short stories (fiction) all designed to make the reader smile. I was inspired by the resilience our world has shown after this pandemic, and how I think we can add some positivity, or even a light distraction, amidst this crazy time.
• What inspires you?
Helping people help themselves and others… trying to make individual lives and the greater world better places to live.
• How did you get into writing ?
I wrote a few articles on compassion for a local newspaper. Then I had to write a lot of things for publicity. I do not have a lot of confidence in my own writing but I’m getting better. I ‘ve found the more I write, the better I feel about it. I love writing the book reviews. My area is writing about how things make me feel. When things speak to me – I find it easy to highlight them.
. What are your goals and aspirations?
My main goal is to inspire my children and help them to become compassionate, loving people. I hope to set a good example and show them that the sky is the limit and to always dream and challenge things. I have learnt in life that I always use to follow the rules but not all rules are “perfect”.
