Chinese motorcycle maker ZXMoto has taken its 500RR inline-four sportbike beyond its home market, launching it in Malaysia and confirming it for Thailand. The bike is expected to reach the UK next month, giving the young manufacturer a wider international presence.
Founded in 2024, ZXMoto made a major appearance at EICMA in Milan in November 2025. The 500RR attracted attention for its combination of compact displacement and a four-cylinder engine.
The 500RR is powered by a 470cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, 16-valve inline-four engine. It produces an impressive 84bhp at 13,500rpm and 46Nm of torque at 11,500rpm, with Bosch electronic fuel injection and a 12.9:1 compression ratio.
ZXMoto claims the motorcycle can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 235kmph.
That makes the engine interesting because inline-four motorcycles have become uncommon in the middleweight segment. The configuration allows the engine to rev high while delivering the smooth, distinctive character of four-cylinder sportbikes.
Power reaches the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox, wet multi-plate slipper clutch, and chain drive. The motorcycle uses a ram-air intake to improve engine performance at higher speeds.
Packed with electronic rider aids
Despite its focus on performance, the 500RR includes a six-axis IMU that enables cornering ABS and traction control.
There are four riding modes — Sport, Street, Beginner, and Custom — allowing riders to adjust the bike’s behaviour based on experience and conditions. A TFT-LCD instrument cluster displays relevant information.
Serious hardware underneath
ZXMoto equipped the 500RR with hardware that gives it a more premium specification than its engine size suggests.
The bike uses 41mm upside-down front forks with preload and rebound adjustment and an adjustable rear monoshock. A single-sided swingarm adds visual appeal, and a steering damper is standard.
Braking comes from twin 300mm front discs with four-piston Taisko calipers, paired with a rear disc and dual-channel ABS.
Price and international expansion
The ZXMoto 500RR launched in Thailand at 199,900 baht, approximately ₹5.85 lakh. Its Malaysian launch expands the bike’s international footprint, while the upcoming UK arrival could expose the brand to a more established motorcycle market.
Why the 500RR is interesting
The most unusual thing about the ZXMoto 500RR is not just its power figure. It is the decision to use a 470cc inline-four engine in a modern middleweight sportbike when manufacturers have moved toward parallel-twin and single-cylinder configurations in this class.
The high-revving motor puts the 500RR closer in spirit to older Japanese four-cylinder middleweights. ZXMoto combines that traditional engine layout with modern electronics and chassis technology.
