Yamaha has expanded its electric two-wheeler lineup in India with the launch of the Aerox E, priced at ₹2.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The new model becomes the company’s second electric scooter in the country, following the EC-06, and brings the familiar sporty styling of the Aerox 155 to the electric mobility segment.
The Aerox E is powered by a 9.4 kW electric motor, delivering a claimed top speed of 95.5 kmph. Power comes from two removable 1.5 kWh battery packs, which together offer a claimed IDC-certified range of 117 km on a full charge.
To suit different riding conditions, Yamaha has equipped the scooter with Eco, Standard and Power riding modes, allowing riders to balance performance and efficiency. It also features a Power Boost function that temporarily enhances acceleration for quicker overtakes and stronger initial pickup.
On the hardware front, the scooter is fitted with telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends and comes with disc brakes on the front and rear, supported by single-channel ABS for improved braking confidence.
The Aerox E also offers a premium technology package. Riders get a TFT instrument display with smartphone connectivity, enabling turn-by-turn navigation, weather updates, and call and SMS notifications directly on the dashboard.
Positioned in the premium electric scooter category, the Aerox E carries a significantly higher price tag than many of its competitors. Yamaha is targeting buyers who prioritize sporty styling, advanced features and brand appeal over affordability.
Additional Insight: The use of removable battery packs gives the Aerox E an advantage for riders who may not have easy access to home charging, as the batteries can be detached and charged separately. With its performance-focused design and premium feature list, Yamaha appears to be positioning the Aerox E as an electric alternative to sporty petrol scooters rather than a budget commuter.
