For expert pastry chef Vinesh Johny, success is literally the icing on the cake. As co-founder of Lavonne Academy of Baking Sciences & Pastry Arts, India’s first international baking academy, he is an industry pioneer bringing a world-class education to the country he holds dearest.
The chef holds the honour of being featured on “Forbes 30 under 30 Asia” list for 2016, in the Arts Category. Additionally, in 2016 he has bestowed the prestigious Restaurant India Award for Pastry Chef of the Year. Under his leadership, Lavonne has clearly differentiated itself from the competition and brought home the 2017 Times Food & Nightlife Awards in the category of “Best Confectionery” for the second time consecutively. Most recently, Lavonne claimed the India Education Awards 2017 in the category of India’s Best Pastry Arts Learning Academy.

Chef Johny’s vision to take pastry education to the next level encouraged him to join the Pastry Council of India as the Ex-Officio Chairman. His sole motivation is to make a difference by elevating the landscape of Pastry Arts and Education in India.
He is the only Indian to be a part of the Forbes All Star Alumni Asia 2017 list, a distinction that marks him as one of the culinary field’s revolutionary game changers. As if that weren’t enough, he’s been profiled on CNN’s India 20 Under 40, a series of vignettes featuring 20 young Indian entrepreneurs who are reshaping how India does business.
Chef Johny’s advocating for his students to cultivate both technical expertise and boundless creativity has secured him the honor of serving as India’s World Skill representative, where his student took home the silver medal for India.
When he’s not whipping up an award-winning batch of sweets, or teaching his students the ins and outs of sugar art, Chef Johny enjoys heading to his favourite Crossfit box for a good workout.
