TVS Motor Company has introduced the TVS Orbiter V1, a new electric scooter that expands its electric two-wheeler range in India. Launched on March 12, 2026, it starts at ₹49,999 (ex-showroom Delhi) with a new battery subscription plan.
The launch was announced in Lucknow and shared with the stock exchanges. This new model aims to make electric vehicles more affordable for buyers in India.
Battery Subscription Model
A key feature of the Orbiter V1 is its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. Instead of buying the battery up front, customers can subscribe to it.
Here’s how the system works:
- The scooter costs ₹49,999 with the subscription plan.
- Without the BaaS model, the scooter costs ₹84,500 (ex-showroom).
- Monthly battery plans start from ₹862.
The subscription also comes with an extended warranty of up to five years or 70,000 km. TVS offers this battery subscription model not just for the Orbiter V1 but across its electric scooter lineup, including the TVS iQube.
Battery, Range and Charging
The Orbiter V1 comes with a 1.8 kWh battery that delivers a certified range of 86 km on a single charge.
Charging is fairly quick. The battery can go from 0 to 80 percent in about 2 hours and 20 minutes, which works well for daily city rides.
This scooter joins the earlier Orbiter V2, which has a bigger 3.1 kWh battery. With both models available, buyers can pick the range and price that suit them best.
Design and Comfort
TVS has designed the scooter with comfort and practicality in mind.
Key design features include:
- 845 mm flat seat for rider and passenger comfort
- 290 mm wide footboard for extra legroom
- Upright handlebar to reduce riding fatigue
- 34-litre under-seat storage, large enough for two helmets
The overall look is modern but still practical for everyday use.
Smart Features and Technology
The Orbiter V1 also offers several tech features. It has a color LCD display that shows ride info and incoming calls.
Riders can use a mobile app to:
- Check battery charge level
- Track odometer readings remotely
Safety and convenience features include:
- Crash and fall alerts
- Theft alerts and geo-fencing
- Time-fencing alerts
- Hill Hold Assist
- Cruise Control
- Parking Assist
- Turn-by-turn navigation
The scooter has Eco and Power riding modes, both with regenerative braking to boost range. It also supports over-the-air software updates, so you don’t need to visit a service center for updates.
Making Electric Mobility More Affordable
TVS officials say the Orbiter V1 was created to make electric mobility more accessible in India. By separating the battery cost from the scooter price, they believe customers will get a clearer picture of the total cost of ownership.
India’s electric two-wheeler market is growing fast thanks to government subsidies, rising fuel prices, and more demand for cleaner transport. Companies like Ola Electric, Ather Energy, and Bajaj Chetak are also expanding their electric scooter options.
With the Orbiter V1 and its battery subscription plan, TVS hopes to attract more first-time EV buyers and boost its position in India’s fast-growing electric mobility market.
