Hyundai has updated one of its most affordable SUVs in India with the new Hyundai Exter facelift. Priced between ₹5.80 lakh and ₹9.42 lakh (ex-showroom), the update brings design changes, additional features, and improved everyday usability, while retaining the reliable powertrain.
Mature and Sporty Exterior
The facelift includes subtle but effective design updates. Hyundai has redesigned the front bumper with a bolder black finish, along with a new grille and silver accents to add contrast.
Key exterior highlights:
- Repositioned ‘Exter’ branding between the LED DRLs
- Chunkier wheel arch cladding for a more SUV-like stance
- New 15-inch alloy wheel design
- Rear updates including a split spoiler and revised bumper
- New colours: Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte
Overall, the car feels more stable and looks more polished.
Interior Gets a Premium Refresh
Inside, the changes focus more on the feel than new functions, but they make a difference. The new dual-tone navy blue and grey theme replaces the old all-black interior, making the cabin feel lighter and more upscale from the start.
Updates include:
- New semi-fabric beige seat upholstery
- Faux carbon-fiber trim across the dashboard
- Flat-bottom steering wheel
- Added driver armrest for improved comfort
Hyundai has added practical upgrades to make daily driving better:

No Mechanical Changes, and That’s on Purpose

- Gearbox options: 5-speed manual & AMT
- CNG variant: 69 hp, 95 Nm (manual only)
The dual-cylinder CNG setup is still a key feature, providing practicality without reducing boot space much—225 litres with CNG compared to 391 litres with petrol.
Positioning in the Market
The Exter continues to compete directly with the Tata Punch, one of the segment’s strongest players.
With this facelift, Hyundai isn’t reinventing the product but refining it:
- Better design presence
- More usable features
- Stronger perceived value
The Hyundai Exter facelift is a thoughtful upgrade. It doesn’t go for radical changes but focuses on what matters most to buyers in this segment: style, comfort, and practicality.
For first-time SUV buyers or city-focused users, this update strengthens the Exter’s position as one of the most well-rounded options in the entry-level SUV space.
