Mercedes-Benz has launched the CLA Electric in India, with prices starting at ₹55 lakh (ex-showroom). The car has already attracted more than 400+ bookings before deliveries have even started, showing that interest in premium electric sedans is rising in India.
The CLA EV is offered in multiple variants, giving buyers flexibility based on performance and range. The entry-level CLA 200 has a 58 kWh battery paired with a rear-mounted motor producing around 224 PS and 335 Nm. It delivers a claimed range of up to 542 km and accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in about 7.5 seconds. For more range and performance, the CLA 250+ features a larger 85 kWh battery, pushing the claimed range to 792 km while delivering quicker acceleration.
A standout aspect of the CLA EV is its charging capability. Built on an advanced 800V architecture, the car supports ultra-fast charging speeds up to 320 kW. This lets it gain roughly 300 km of range in 10 minutes, addressing a major concern around electric vehicles: charging time. Mercedes has also fine-tuned the suspension and increased ground clearance to better suit Indian road conditions.
The CLA EV’s design blends a futuristic feel with classic Mercedes style. Its coupe-like shape is smooth and aerodynamic, with a drag coefficient of just 0.21. The front grille stands out with 142 illuminated three-pointed stars, and LED light bars at both ends add to its modern look. Flush door handles and clean lines give it a premium finish.
Inside, the CLA EV is packed with digital features. There’s a wide display that combines a 14-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch driver screen. Higher trims add a triple-screen Superscreen setup. Other highlights include powered and massaging seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and a Burmester 3D sound system for a luxury feel.
The CLA EV also focuses on safety and convenience. It comes with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, automated parking, and Level 2+ driver assistance for semi-autonomous driving. For practicality, there’s a 405-litre boot and an extra front trunk.
With its long range, fast charging, and premium features, the Mercedes-Benz CLA EV stands out in India’s luxury EV market. It shows a clear move toward electric cars, while still offering the performance, comfort, and style expected from the brand.
