Harley-Davidson is bringing back one of the most iconic names in its history with the launch of the 2026 Super Glide. More than five decades after the original motorcycle debuted, the legendary cruiser returns as a limited-edition model that combines classic styling with modern engineering.
Introduced in 1971, the Super Glide played an important role in Harley-Davidson’s history. At a time when Japanese motorcycle manufacturers were rapidly gaining popularity, the Super Glide helped bridge the gap between Harley’s smaller Sportster lineup and its heavyweight touring motorcycles. Additional details such as the Super Glide badging and an individually numbered plaque beneath the speedometer emphasise the motorcycle’s exclusivity. While the famous boat-tail rear section from the original model has not returned, the rounded rear fender and traditional cross-spoke wheels help maintain the bike’s vintage character.
The result is a motorcycle that pays tribute to Harley-Davidson’s heritage while still feeling contemporary.
Built on a Proven Platform
Beneath its nostalgic appearance, the 2026 Super Glide shares its foundation with Harley-Davidson’s current Street Bob. This gives the motorcycle access to modern technology, engineering, and performance while preserving the relaxed cruiser experience riders expect from the brand.
One of the most noticeable upgrades is the larger fuel tank. The Super Glide receives an 18.9-litre teardrop-shaped tank, significantly larger than the Street Bob’s 13.2-litre unit. Besides enhancing the bike’s classic appearance, the larger tank should provide greater range for long-distance riding.
The larger fuel capacity adds a small amount of weight, with the motorcycle weighing 297 kilograms, only slightly heavier than the Street Bob.
Milwaukee-Eight Power
Power comes from Harley-Davidson’s Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin engine. The 1,923cc powerplant produces 98 horsepower and an impressive 162Nm of torque.
Known for its strong low-end performance and effortless cruising, the engine delivers the muscular character that has defined Harley-Davidson motorcycles for generations. Whether riding through city streets or cruising on open highways, the Super Glide is designed to deliver smooth, confident performance.
Comfort-Focused Cruising
The riding position remains true to the cruiser formula. Mini ape-hanger handlebars and mid-mounted foot controls create a relaxed posture for long rides. Harley-Davidson has also lowered the seat height to just 665mm, making the motorcycle more accessible to a wider range of riders.
A single-piece seat accommodates both rider and passenger, staying faithful to the design philosophy of the original Super Glide while adding everyday practicality.
