Reliance Retail has completed its acquisition of Anomaly, the global haircare brand started by Priyanka Chopra Jonas. This deal is another big step in the company’s growing beauty business.
The acquisition, announced last week and still making headlines as of May 6, covers Anomaly’s trademarks, digital assets, and full brand ownership. Reliance Retail plans to grow the brand in India and abroad through its retail network and platforms such as Tira.
Anomaly launched in 2021 as a clean, vegan, and affordable haircare brand. Its products include shampoos, conditioners, and dry shampoos focused on sustainability and value. Since then, Anomaly has expanded into markets such as North America and the UK.
This deal adds to Reliance Retail’s expanding beauty and personal care lineup, especially as more consumers look for premium yet affordable products. The company also sees opportunities to create products specifically for Indian hair and scalp needs.
Isha Ambani called the acquisition a strategic move to grow Reliance Retail’s collection of fast-growing beauty brands. The company said Anomaly’s clean beauty image and global reputation make it a good match for its future goals.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas will stay closely involved with Anomaly as Creative Director, even after the acquisition. She described the partnership as a “defining moment” for the brand and believes it will help Anomaly reach more people worldwide while staying true to its mission.
This partnership shows Reliance Retail’s growing interest in working with celebrity brands and using its large retail network. By bringing Anomaly into its system, the company hopes to boost both in-store and online sales and raise the brand’s profile through Tira and other outlets.
With India’s beauty market growing rapidly, this acquisition gives Anomaly an opportunity to expand its presence both in India and around the world.
