A key improvement is that unnecessary captchas, pop-ups, flashing graphics, and other distractions have been removed. The simpler design helps users find and book their train tickets without interruptions.
Now, passengers can see seat availability for all travel classes on one screen. This makes it easier to compare options without having to switch between different classes.
The Ministry has also made the checkout process faster by reducing the number of steps required to book a ticket. The website now saves passengers’ personal details, so frequent users can book tickets more quickly without re-entering their information each time.
Passengers can try the beta version through the IRCTC e-ticketing portal, and there is also a direct link on the main IRCTC website. The Ministry is asking users to explore the new site and share their feedback so they can make more improvements before the final version is released.
Since its launch in 2002, the IRCTC website has become one of India’s busiest online booking platforms. It now handles about 14.5 lakh train ticket bookings every day, so reliability and ease of use are more important than ever as more people use the service.
