Google has officially confirmed that the Pixel 10 series will be launched on August 20 at its annual Made by Google event in New York. The company is expected to reveal several new phones along with its latest software and wearable updates.
Ahead of the launch, leaked renders and reports have already given us a fair idea of what’s coming. The Pixel 10 lineup is likely to include five models – the Pixel 10, 10 XL, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, and the 10 Pro Fold.
Familiar Design, Subtle Changes
Google doesn’t appear to be changing its design philosophy too much. The overall look remains similar to last year’s Pixel 9 Pro, with the trademark camera bar staying in place. But there are small refinements, and the Pixel 10 will stand out with one important upgrade – a triple camera setup.
For the first time, the standard Pixel will get a telephoto lens, previously reserved for the Pro models. Reports suggest that the main and ultrawide cameras may use smaller sensors compared to the Pixel 9, but the addition of a telephoto lens should help balance the difference.
The Pro models are expected to retain the same triple-camera system as the Pixel 9 Pro. At the same time, the Fold version will maintain its unique design but may see improvements in durability.
Smarter AI Features
Artificial intelligence is once again at the center of Google’s pitch. Several leaks suggest the introduction of new tools, including “Pixel Sense”, a virtual assistant designed to anticipate user needs and provide proactive suggestions by pulling data from across Google apps. Importantly, this will be processed directly on the device for speed and privacy.
Other AI-powered camera features are also rumored, including “Camera Coach”, which could guide users in real time while taking photos, offering advice on lighting, angles, and composition.
Photo editing may also become easier with voice commands that let users quickly change backgrounds, brighten photos, or remove unwanted objects.
Performance Boost with New Chip
One of the biggest changes under the hood is the new Tensor G5 chip, which, for the first time, will be manufactured by TSMC instead of Samsung. Built on the advanced 3nm process, the chip promises improved performance and enhanced heat management – two areas where earlier Tensor processors have struggled.
Wireless Charging and Bigger Batteries
Google may also be preparing to introduce Qi2 wireless charging under a new brand name, “Pixelsnap.” Qi2 allows faster and more stable magnetic wireless charging, similar to Apple’s MagSafe. The slightly larger size and thickness of the Pixel 10 models suggest that bigger batteries – and possibly room for magnets – are on the way.
A Stronger Foldable
Another headline feature could be the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which is rumored to become the first foldable phone with an IP68 rating. That means full dust and water protection – something no other foldable has achieved so far. If true, this would be a major engineering milestone for Google.
Pixel 10 Colours and Variants
The Pixel 10 series is also set to arrive in fresh new colours. The standard Pixel 10 will reportedly come in Obsidian (black), Indigo, Frost, and a bright yellow shade called Limoncello.
Pro models will be available in Porcelain (white), Jade (green), Moonstone (grey-blue), and Obsidian. The Fold is expected in just Moonstone and Jade.
With the Pixel 10 launch just days away, excitement is building. While much of the design remains familiar, the combination of AI-powered features, a new Tensor chip, improved cameras, and wireless charging could make this Google’s strongest smartphone lineup yet.
All eyes will be on New York on August 20 to see how much of the speculation turns into reality.
