BSA Motorcycles has expanded its presence in India with the launch of the Scrambler 650. This bike combines classic looks with practical features for daily use. It’s a more versatile option than the Gold Star 650, aimed at riders who want comfort on the road and some off-road ability, but don’t need a full-on adventure bike.
The Scrambler 650 uses a 652cc single-cylinder engine with about 45 bhp and 55 Nm of torque. Instead of chasing top speed, it’s built for practical performance. The engine delivers strong low- and mid-range power, making it good for city riding, highways, and some light off-roading. The gearbox helps keep the ride smooth and easy to handle.
Design is where the bike makes an immediate impression. It carries a distinct British modern-classic identity, with scrambler-specific elements such as a high-mounted front fender, fork gaiters, and minimal bodywork. The upright stance and clean lines give it a purposeful look without unnecessary styling clutter. The seat design and overall proportions also reflect a focus on comfort and functionality rather than just aesthetics.
The Scrambler 650 offers simple but useful features. It has LED head and tail lamps, and dual-channel ABS for safety. The LCD display clearly displays key riding information, matching the bike’s simple, practical style.
The bike’s frame and parts help it work well on different surfaces. It has a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, both with wire spokes and dual-purpose tyres for roads and light trails. The front uses telescopic forks and the rear has twin shock absorbers, giving a balanced ride in various conditions.
Price is an important factor for this bike. The Scrambler 650 comes in colors like Raven Black, Victor Yellow, and Thunder Grey, with a starting price of about ₹3.25 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it a strong competitor in its segment, especially compared to the Royal Enfield 650 range, while offering a different riding experience.
Overall, the BSA Scrambler 650 isn’t meant to be an extreme bike. It aims to give a balanced experience with classic looks, practical performance, and enough flexibility for riders who want more than a regular road bike but don’t need a full off-road machine.
