BMW has introduced the facelifted 7 Series in India, bringing updated styling, new technology and a range of luxury features to its flagship sedan. The new 740 M Sport is priced at Rs 1.95 crore (ex-showroom), while the updated electric i7 is available in two variants, with prices reaching Rs 2.65 crore.
The latest 7 Series continues BMW’s focus on combining limousine-like comfort with performance, while the facelift adds a more distinctive look and more passenger technology.
New BMW 7 Series Gets a Sharper Design
The facelifted 7 Series gets several changes up front, most notably a large illuminated kidney grille and a redesigned split-headlamp arrangement. Reworked bumpers and slim LED tail-lights further distinguish the updated model from its predecessor.
Inside, BMW has focused heavily on technology and rear-seat comfort. The cabin gets a new steering wheel, a full-width panoramic display, a 17.9-inch central touchscreen, and a 14.6-inch passenger display.
For rear-seat occupants, one headline feature remains BMW’s 31.3-inch Theatre Screen. The screen now supports 8K streaming, turning the rear cabin into something closer to a private entertainment space.

Other equipment includes a Bowers & Wilkins audio system with Dolby Atmos, a panoramic glass roof and four-zone automatic climate control. The seats are powered, heated, ventilated and equipped with massage functions.
The flagship sedan also features Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, rear-wheel steering and adaptive suspension.
Petrol Power for the 740 M Sport
The India-specification BMW 740 M Sport is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
The powertrain produces 395 BHP and 540 Nm and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. BMW claims the sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
This combination gives the 7 Series a balance between the relaxed character expected from a luxury limousine and the performance associated with BMW’s flagship models.
BMW i7 Offers Two Electric Options
Alongside the petrol-powered 7 Series, BMW has launched the facelifted i7 in India in two variants: the i7 50 xDrive M Sport and the i7 M70 xDrive.
The i7 50 xDrive M Sport uses a 112.4 kWh battery connected to dual electric motors. The system produces 455 BHP and 660 Nm, allowing the electric limousine to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.5 seconds.
BMW claims a WLTP range of 728 km for this version, with a top speed of 210 km/h.

At the top of the range sits the i7 M70 xDrive. Its dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup develops up to 680 BHP and 1,100 Nm with the boost function. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 250 km/h.
Despite its performance focus, the M70 retains the same 112.4 kWh battery pack and offers a claimed range of 686 km.
Technology Meets Luxury
With the facelift, BMW has continued to position the 7 Series as more than a conventional luxury sedan. The emphasis is increasingly on the passenger experience, with large displays, premium audio, advanced seating functions and connected entertainment forming a major part of the package.
The introduction of updated petrol and electric versions also gives buyers a choice between traditional combustion-engine performance and BMW’s electric flagship experience.
With prices starting at Rs 1.95 crore for both the 740 M Sport and i7 50 xDrive M Sport, the latest BMW 7 Series range strengthens the German manufacturer’s presence in India’s ultra-luxury sedan segment while giving the i7 a more prominent role in its flagship lineup.
