Bajaj Auto is revving up to re-enter the spotlight in India’s entry-level cruiser bike segment with the relaunch of the Avenger Street 220. Once a popular name among cruiser enthusiasts, the Street 220 is making a return after being absent from showrooms in recent years.
First introduced in 2004 as a 180 cc cruiser, the Avenger series opened new doors for Bajaj in the Indian motorcycle market. Over the years, it evolved into 160 cc and 220 cc variants, with the Avenger 220 Cruise currently holding the fort. To expand the cruiser range, Bajaj is reintroducing the Avenger Street 220, a model renowned for its urban cruiser appeal and sporty character.
Although Bajaj has yet to officially announce the launch, the Delhi Transport Department’s homologation documents have already been leaked online, confirming that the Avenger Street 220 is ready for a comeback.
As per the document, the Street 220 will sit slightly above the Cruise 220 in the lineup, despite being smaller in dimensions. It will be shorter, narrower, and lighter, with the following specs:
- Gross weight: 310 kg
- Wheelbase: 1,490 mm
- Length: 2,210 mm
- Width: 806 mm
- Height: 1,070 mm
Unlike the Cruise version, the Street 220 will not include a windshield or pillion backrest, keeping the design clean and aggressive.
A Sportier Avatar

The updated Avenger Street 220 will sport blacked-out components to enhance its urban cruiser appeal. These include:
- Alloy wheels
- Rearview mirrors
- Fork gaiters
- Exhaust muffler cover
- Engine casing
- Front and rear fenders
This dark-themed styling gives the Street 220 a more muscular and modern look, catering to younger riders who prefer a sportier vibe.
Same Reliable Powertrain
Mechanically, the Avenger Street 220 will remain familiar. It is powered by the same 220 cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine, producing:
- 18 hp at 8,500 rpm
- 17 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm
The engine will continue to be paired with a five-speed gearbox, offering a smooth and dependable cruising experience.
What to Expect Next
With the homologation already in place, the official launch of the Bajaj Avenger Street 220 is expected soon. Pricing details are yet to be revealed, but it will likely be positioned competitively to attract both new riders and former fans of the Avenger.
