Homegrown smartphone brand boltt has brought Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana on board as its brand ambassador as it prepares to enter India’s competitive smartphone market.
The association comes ahead of the launch of boltt’s first smartphones, the Ace 5G and Evo, which will be available exclusively through Flipkart. The partnership is expected to give the new brand a familiar face as it introduces its products to consumers nationwide.
Known for choosing unconventional film roles and connecting with audiences across different age groups, Ayushmann Khurrana will feature in boltt’s upcoming brand and product initiatives.
For a relatively new smartphone brand, bringing a recognisable celebrity on board can help establish its identity quickly. boltt appears to be positioning itself around a contemporary yet accessible image rather than competing purely on specifications.
Arnav Kishore, founder and CEO of boltt, said Ayushmann’s personality and ability to connect with consumers made him a natural fit for the company. He added that the brand wants to build an identity that feels contemporary and relatable to the way people use technology in everyday life.
The partnership arrives just as boltt prepares to launch the Ace 5G and Evo, its first smartphone models in India.
The company says the devices have been developed around the changing requirements of Indian consumers, combining performance, design and everyday functionality. Both phones will feature a 6,000mAh battery, with the company placing an emphasis on dependable and accessible smartphone experiences.
The smartphones will be sold exclusively on Flipkart, giving the brand an established e-commerce platform for its initial entry into the category.
Celebrity endorsements are common in India’s smartphone market, but boltt’s choice of Ayushmann is particularly interesting because his public image extends beyond traditional Bollywood stardom. His association with films that often explore contemporary Indian life gives the brand an opportunity to build a more relatable personality around its products.
The smartphone market is also one of India’s most crowded consumer technology categories, with established names competing alongside newer brands. For boltt, creating recognition around the name before consumers encounter its products could be an important part of its launch strategy.
boltt comes from the house of Fire-Boltt, a brand already known in India’s consumer electronics market. Moving into smartphones gives the company an opportunity to build on existing consumer familiarity while entering a much larger, more competitive category.
The Ace 5G and Evo will therefore be important products for the company as it attempts to establish boltt as a smartphone brand rather than simply extending its existing electronics portfolio.
